Landing Page Building Guide

Product Image Updates

  • Get access to the site from Lakshmi

  • 301 Redirects

    • The site currently does not have the functionality for the SEO team to set up redirects

    • Need to submit an engineering ticket to get those updated in Apache until the functionality has been built out

  • Courses – tags and h1/h2s, on-page content cannot easily be changed, must go through CMM and content for approval

    • As these are also in the B2B QuickBase

    • Needs to make sense for both B2B and B2C customers

  • Bundles – only B2C, so this content is easier to edit and doesn’t have to go through content teams for approval

  • Browse Pages - cannot be updated

    Meta Updates ENDECA/ORACLE: How-To

    • Login to the backend of the Live Site

    • Go to Experience manager

    • Click on Store US

    • Go to the section of the page that you want to edit. For example: Assisted Living Administrator

    • The default of the page is usually One column page

    • You'll see Title – this is the SEO Meta Title. Make your changes.

    • You'll see Description – this is the SEO Meta Description. Make your changes.

    • Sometimes you'll see Sub-header Title this will be an H4. Engineering ticket in to make this an H2.

    • Click Save Changes.

    • If pages are using the OneColumnLandingPage, then H1s should all be in the same place. Main Content > Landing Page image and text > Heading

    • Then go back to the top to Experience Manager and click EAC Admin Console

    • Go to Scripts

    • Make sure the Auto refresh status checkbox is checked

    • Promote authoring to live – make sure you click start on this one and not the one below or above as apparently that could cause major issues!

    • The status will update to Running when updating

    • The status will update to Not running when completed

    • When done, go to the live front end of the site and inspect the page to ensure your changes were properly updated.

    • When confirmed that updates are live, go to the staging site, repeat the same process, and make the updates again on staging.

    Testing Changes on Staging/Dev

    • So for Endeca you should make your changes in the Dev environment first then test the dev site to make sure everything is ok.

    • Then you can go into the production environment and update it. You don’t have to push it from dev. You would basically have to rebuild it a 2nd time

    • The dev environment is not an exact copy from production either fyi.

If you are making updates on the LIVE site follow these steps:

    1. Make the change to the site then click "Save Changes" in the top right corner.

    2. Go to "EAC Admin Console" and the "Scripts" tab. **I WAS WARNED THIS IS THE PAGE YOU CAN REALLY BREAK THINGS IN LOL**

    3. Ensure that the checkbox next to "Auto Refresh Status" is checked.

    4. Go to the "PromoteAuthoring ToLive" row and click "Start" and will change to "Stop"

    5. Once the updates have been made it will refresh to "Start"

    6. The changes are live 😊

    Update Content on a Page:

    1. Select the page you would like to update in the left hand menu.

    2. Open the "Content Editor" Tab & select which content section you would like to update. Then click the "Edit Text" button at the bottom.

      1.

    3. An "Edit Text Area" window will open, if you would like to update via source you can click

"<>Source" in the top right hand corner of the window.

    1. After you make the changes click "Save Changes" in the bottom right hand corner.

    2. You can now click "Save Changes" (the blue button) in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Send for QA.

How to Update "Featured Products" On Pages:

    2. The "Featured Products" section on the page is where you make these updates.

    3. Select the "Featured Product" you would like to update or add.

    4. Find the product code of the product you would like to add, and add it into the text bar next to the "Featured Product (1..2..3 etc,):"

    5. Click "Save Changes"

How to Update Approved H1s & H2's in Endeca:

Note: Before making updates here, make sure that the pages are not Course pages, as these H1s reflect the course name which must be kept for accreditation purposes. If you have any questions, please direct them to the Relias Academy CMM

Editing Pages

Log into Endeca to make landing page updates: http://endeca.reliasacademy.com

Log into BCC to make subscription updates: http://bcc.reliasacademy.com

Changes to packages are best made in collaboration with Chris Lagant, who has access to Site1

Point of contact: Lakshmi Kondragunta (lkondragunta@relias.com

Note: Both sites run on flash. You’ll most likely need to allow Flash from your browser and refresh the page.  Always remember to log out of each site once done for engineering’s sake :)

Endeca:

Landing pages, including the homepage, can be edited here. To start, choose Experience Manager and locate RA pages (Store US) under Site Pages. Find your desired page based on its URL.

Page content is edited via cartridges, which vary based on the landing page template. If modifying a page, check the published page to see which content matches with which cartridge. If adding a new page, check against the page from which you’re copying.

SEO

SEO fields can be accessed through the main cartridge. Use a text editor/Moz title checker for character/pixel count

Pushing Updates Live:

Once your changes are finalized, return to the main Endeca page. Choose EAC Admin Console -> Scripts -> PromoteAuthoringToLive -> Start. This will push your edits through (reflected in ~15 (though sometimes quicker if edits are small).

BCC:

Note: BCC is restarted daily by engineering (typically in the mornings) and requires you to be logged out. Join the #academysupport channel for notifications of when this is done as well as when there are issues with the site.

To make page edits, you’ll need to start a new project. After logging in, choose New CA Project under Content Administration. Name your project, the description is optional.

To find your subscription, go to Catalog -> Relias Academy -> Master Catalog. Then choose Find (magnifying glass) and search for your product.  There may be duplicates, so reference your product’s URL and match the product ID.

Page content is edited under Presentation

The Description field (click the text to edit) is the short description used on landing pages and browse course pages. The Long Description field is the page’s actual copy.

SEO

SEO cannot be edited in BCC. Send change requests to engineering via Jira tickets.

Pushing Updates Live:

To push edits live, return to the main page, choose your project from the Projects tab. From there, you will see your tasks to push the edits.  Follow the deploy steps for each action. Verify Project Deployment will allow you to preview your changes before finalizing.

Redirects

Redirect requests can be sent to engineering via Jira ticket.

Adding Images

Images must be added to a designated folder on the server and will be accessible the next day. See Steven Abbott for help obtaining access.
