How-To: Magento | Publish Content in Magento

This guide covers the process for publishing a new page, or updates to an existing page in the Magento CMS for Nurse.com. This guide does not cover how to make changes to existing pages, or creating new pages, only how to publish changes once they have been made.

 Scheduled Publishing

All content changes should be made on the Nurse.com staging environment. You will need to be connected to the Relias VPN in order to access the staging site.

  1. Log into the Nurse staging site.

  2. In the left-hand sidebar, click on “OCL APPROVAL AND PUBLISHING

  3. Find the content you want to publish using the search or filters

  4. Click the checkbox next to the content you want to publish

  5. In the Actions dropdown above the content list, choose Approve

  6. The page should reload and your content will now list as Approved in the Publish Status column

  7. Repeat step 4 & 5, this time choosing Schedule For Publishing in the Actions Dropdown

  8. The page will reload and your content will now list as In Publish Queue in the Publish Status column

Your content is now set to publish! Overnight, an automation will run to push your content to the live site. This is the preferred method of publishing content, as it minimizes the performance impact on the site.

 Publish On Demand

Only publish content on demand when absolutely necessary. Following the below guide will have performance impacts on the site and for our users. Please exercise good judgement when using this option.

  1. Follow steps 1-8 in the Scheduled Publishing Guide above

  2. Once your content is listed as In Publish Queue in the Publish Status column, click the checkbox next to the content

  3. Select Publish On Demand in the Actions Dropdown

  4. The page will refresh and your content will list as Published in the Publish Status column.

  5. Log into the Nurse.com production site

  6. Choose SYSTEM from the left-hand sidebar

  7. Navigate to Cache Management in the fly out panel

  8. Check the box on the left of Page Cache, Layouts, and/or Block HTML output as needed for your application

  9. At the top left of the list, ensure Refresh is chosen in the dropdown, and click the submit button to the immediate right of the dropdown
