Marketing Team Onboarding Guide 

Welcome to the Team! 

We're thrilled to have you on board as a part of our marketing team. This guide is designed to help you get up to speed, understand our processes, and make your transition smooth. Feel free to reach out to your manager or colleagues if you have any questions along the way. 

 

Week 1: Corporate Bootcamp/Getting Started 

  1. Introduction to the Company 

  • Company Overview: Learn about Relias’ mission, values, and overall business objectives 

  • Organizational Structure: Meet the key departments and individuals you'll be working with 

  • Company Tools & Platforms: Access to email, intranet, calendar, and internal communication tools (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams) 

  • Key Policies: Review important policies (work hours, remote work, time off, etc.) 

  • HR: Finalize documentation with HR and get signed up for insurance and other Relias benefits 

  1. Meet Your Team 

  • Team Introduction: Meet with your direct manager and teammates. Understand each person's role and how the team collaborates 

  • Mentor/Buddy: You will be paired with a buddy from the marketing team to assist you during your first few weeks 

  1. Setting Up Your Workspace 

  • Booking Your Workspace / Desk: Review OfficeSpace and how to book your workspace / desk when in the office. 

  • Access Accounts: Set up your logins for essential platforms (e.g., CRM, project management tools, analytics platforms) 

  • Software Installations: Download any necessary software, including graphic design, email marketing tools, etc 

Week 2: Marketing Processes 

  1. First Tasks 

  • Training Sessions: Attend initial training on key tools (email marketing, EEO, DV360, quoting tools, etc.) 

  • Product Familiarization: Understand our products/services, target audience, and current marketing strategies 

  • Shadowing: Shadow a few marketing activities such as campaign planning meetings or content brainstorming sessions 

  1. Marketing Strategy Overview 

  • Current Marketing Objectives: Learn about the marketing department’s goals for the quarter and year 

  • Campaign Overview: Review past and current marketing campaigns to understand our approach and key metrics 

  • Target Audience: Dive deeper into our customer segments, buyer personas, and the customer journey 

  1. Marketing Tools & Platforms 

  • Analytics Platforms: Get familiar with Compulse dashboard and internal reporting tools 

  • Project Management: Learn how we use JIRA, Saleforce, and our shared inbox to stay on top of incoming campaigns and our team’s workflow 

  1. Collaborative Workflow 

  • Content Creation Process: Understand the process of creating and approving marketing materials (social media ads, emails, display ads, etc.) 

  • Campaign Planning: How we collaborate with other teams (product, sales, creative) on campaigns 

  • Approval Process: Familiarize yourself with the sign-off process for creative assets, email sends, and digital ads. 

  1. Ramp-Up Plan 

  • 30/60/90: Work with your manager to create a 30/60/90-day plan for your ramp-up period that will be submitted to HR 

Week 3: Hands-On Experience 

  1. Additional Training Sessions 

  • Finish Training: Complete initial platform training sessions with AdOps team 

  1. Assist AdOps Team 

  • Quotes: Start pulling quotes that come through the shared inbox to help familiarize yourself with the process and our internal audience segmentation 

  • Campaign Execution: Work with your manager to find areas where you can aid the team in campaign setup and execution 

  1. Collaborate with Other Teams 

  • DA Sales & DA Support: Learn about cross-functional collaboration by attending meetings with DA Sales and DA Support 

  • Creative Team: Meet our internal creative team to familiarize yourself with the team members and their process 

 

 

Week 4: Becoming Independent 

  1. Work on tasks independently 

  • Own a Campaign: Begin setting up campaigns on your own (will be QA’d by another member of the team before launch) 

  • Add/Remove EEOs: Add and remove EEOs as they are assigned to you in JIRA 

  1. Review & Adjust Strategy 

  • Review with Manager: Conduct a one-on-one with your manager to review your progress, discuss your strengths, and identify areas for growth 

  • Set Long-Term Goals: Define your longer-term goals and development within the team 

 

Ongoing Learning & Development 

  1. Training & Certifications 

  • Ongoing Certifications: Explore certifications in relevant areas like Google Analytics, SEO, or email marketing platforms to grow your skills 

  • Internal Workshops: Attend internal marketing workshops and strategy sessions 

  1. Continuous Feedback 

  • Regular Check-ins: Attend weekly/bi-weekly 1:1s with your manager to assess progress and discuss any issues you may be having 

  • Collaborative Projects: Look for opportunities to work on cross-departmental projects to broaden your understanding
